Unboxing Day! My author copies of Mac and the Millstone of Time arrived! March 28th is coming up soon and I'm excited to be getting actual copies of the books out and into readers hands! Congratulations to all the Kidlit Authors and Artists who won awards today. Also, congratulations to all of the Kidlit Authors and Artists who get to create amazing books for kids. Last week a student said she wanted to color the flying puffin I had drawn so I added new coloring pages to my website including ones from “Mac and the Millstone of Time.” When I do assemblies I give the school I’m visiting a framed thank you poster. A school I recently visited is ordering 847 copies of THE ANGRY LITTLE PUFFIN. I need to go to the Schiffer warehouse next month to prepare them for shipping. Since I draw a picture in each book I sign it would take two days to do them all. I’m doing hand drawn labels ahead of ti Turning 60
I hope you enjoyed my posts over the last week. Turning 60 made me consider my journey getting here. A health scare 5 or so years ago and the pandemic shut-down changed my mindset. I have lost much of the weight I put on over the last 3 decades and I’m healthier now than I’ve bee For the last decade he gained some success as an author and he also gained more weight. Another decade, another location. They moved to Maryland. Having been an employee and a boss he decided he disliked being either. He went back to work for himself and pursue some creative goals. He did graphic design under the name Eclectic Graphics and Creatures And Characters b Another change in his 30s, he got more steady jobs. He talked his way into pretty good positions and even met some famous folks on the way up. His new desk jobs allowed him more time to focus on putting on weight. As he neared 30 he decided to mix things up. He married Melanie and moved with her to England. While there they had 2 children. The third waited until they moved back to the States. He then wandered New York City taking odd jobs…very odd jobs. In his second decade he showed a small talent for art. Despite it’s size he was accepted to Pratt Institute where they eventually let him graduate. In one week this little kid will do something he could not have conceived at the time. After 3+ years of not-much travel I’m excited to be traveling to Nevada for a week of school author visits! I’m doing 21 presentations at 11 schools over 5 days! I’m looking forward to meeting with students all over the country on Wednesday for World Read Aloud Day. I’m doing 8 virtual sessions with schools in Maine, New Jersey, Virginia, Ohio, Texas, Pennsylvania and Long Island and Rochester in New York. I’ll read a bunch of books to st It’s Squirrel Appreciation Day. While I am fond of all squirrels I wish we had rainbow colored ones where I live.
