  5. It's great that hotels are moving away from single-use tiny shampoo bottles and instead mounting these on the shower walls. However, not when the hotel runs out and have no replacements for their guests....which happened to us on our last trip.
  6. Say what you want about the Hilton Garden Inn hotel chain, but their logo on their breakfast waffles is a neat little detail.

    The Hawaii Community Foundation is an awesome organization, and your money goes to where it belongs. Please help the residents of Maui recover from this terrible disaster. Donate to the Maui Strong Fund.
  9. Pump Your Own Gas

    Not being able to pump my own gas was really irritating when I had a short stint in Oregon back in the 90s. Have trust in your constituents! Now it's finally happening! Yay!

    We loved visiting the tulip farms in Skagit County, Washington. In preparation for our Upstate New York trip later this month, I did some research and found this interesting history of tulips in Albany, New York.

  15. Early Days of an Engineer

    Age 3. When I knew my son would have an interest in engineering. He had to inspect the underneath of a monorail to figure out how it was moving. 6 months later, he did the same thing with a street car in Europe. Now he’s at a top engineering school

    Cheers to another Swedish lunch specialty. In Swedish, the name for this dish is: Raggmunk med Fläsk och Lingon. It's a truly enjoyed comfort food across all of Scandinavia. Smaklig måltid!

    If you are a T-Mobile subscriber, you have probably heard that they are doing away with the $5/line auto-pay discount, unless you use a debit card or bank account to pay your monthly bill. I can see why they are doing this...as a business, it doesn't make financial sense to offer
