Is there no way of saving draft posts while we are writing them? I just lost a 1000 word post when my internet suddenly bombed out. So frustrating! I hate losing pieces of writing like this. New beginnings
It’s New Year’s Eve and I am slowly reading Hannah Arendt, who I have heard referred to as ‘the philosopher of beginnings’. After a particularly ugly year, I am eager for the fresh start of a new year ‘In the stir of too much motion: Hold still. Be quiet. Listen.’ Margaret Renkl (Late Migrations) Anne Sexton
I am reading some of the poems of Anne Sexton this morning & liked this one about “standing confronting the ocean” — being all at once awed, comforted, horrified, mesmerised & intoxicated by its immen Poetic justice. Academic Post?
Any other academics around here? Seems kind of lonely so far... I am a Sociologist who works on feminist issues, violence, & reproductive politics. I am keen to follow other academics & feminists here Reading for pleasure
I love browsing second-hand bookstores at this time of year & looking for fun reads. As an academic, most of the year is spent reading dense material that requires careful note-taking. It's wonderful I'm new to Post and looking for academic and feminist friends to follow. Also interested in cats, plants, books, and feminist philosophy!
