Happy Holidays, and Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! A very cold Caturday morning requires extra blankets and snuggles One of my favorite #caturday photos: James and Scotch, nose to nose Just an amazing photo of Mars reappearing after being occulted (eclipsed, blocked, photobombed) by the Moon last night! Coco enjoying his first evening downstairs with everyone, while Scotch (not pictured) is being a very good boy and ignoring him. #rescue #cats Coco has been slowly expanding his range from our guest r Most of my #crossstitch projects in the last few years have focused on astronomy or space. This in-progress project is more traditional, but with a modern twist. #crafting #needlework #caturday Awesome view of the Mauna Loa eruption from near the visitor center for the telescopes at Mauna Kea on Hawai'i. I saw this article the other day, and wow is this cool! (But also, satellite constellations are quickly impairing our ability to detect asteroids that could cause significantly more damage — we need r Two words into the synopsis of this movie and I, @astronomisty, knew that I had to watch it. Curious as to how it went? You can follow along at the bird site Or this bird-free location: Two votes for Senator Warnock. #GArunoff The line to vote in North Fulton at 4:30pm on a Sunday afternoon. Seems to be at least a 30min wait. #GArunoff #vote #election2022 Scotch was especially intrigued by the clerks working with Kermit. #cats I’m sitting here texting Georgia voters with early voting information, trying to help them make a plan to cast their ballots. I would like to be decorating a Christmas tree right now, but I guess that We have had a very busy day here today. Lots of snuggling, snoring, and relaxing has been accomplished. #cats This is me. Also, black holes are messy eaters that throw around lots of crumbs including neutrinos! Black(hole) Friday! 🌚
Black holes are categorized by mass. My favorite, the supermassive black holes, have somewhere between 1 million and 10 billion times the mass of the Sun squeezed into a space smaller than the solar s Black(hole) Friday! 🌚
Black holes may seem exotic and scary, but they are incredibly simple. They only have three characteristics that we can attempt to measure: mass, spin or rotation, and electric charge. Black holes have mRNA is amazing science. Happy Thanksgiving to those in the US! (note: a fanciful reimagining of a real nebula)
